Roofers who know Preston
We cover Preston and the surrounding area, including Chorley, Fulwood, Penwortham, Longridge and Leyland, as part of our Lancashire-wide work. Roof replacements and solar installations make up most of our projects here.
Preston's housing is varied: Victorian terraces near the city centre and in areas like Deepdale and Ashton, large inter-war and post-war semis, and extensive modern estates on the edges of the city. That means we're as likely to be re-roofing a slate terrace as installing solar on a newer house.
Preston is further from our Colne base than our East Lancashire towns, so we plan visits and work carefully to keep jobs running smoothly. Larger projects such as full roof replacements and solar installations are where we're most often called out here.

Planning a new roof in Preston
Most homeowners in Preston only replace a roof once, so it pays to know what a proper job involves before you compare quotes. A full replacement means stripping the old covering right back to the rafters. That lets us check every timber, replace anything rotten or weakened, and fit a new breathable membrane and new treated battens before the slates or tiles go back on. Quotes that skip the strip and simply overlay or patch can look cheaper, but they hide problems that shorten the life of the new roof.
Every full roof replacement we carry out in Preston is overseen by building control. That gives you an independent check on the standard of work, and the paperwork you'll want when you come to sell. It also carries a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee, so the guarantee stands even if anything were to happen to the business.
The details are where roofs in Lancashire tend to fail: ridges, verges, valleys, chimney flashings and the junctions with neighbouring roofs. We spend time on these because the weather here finds every weak spot. Where it suits the property, we can fit mechanically fixed ridge and verge systems that don't rely on mortar, and we renew lead where it meets chimneys and walls rather than patching it with sealant.
We keep you updated as the work happens. Payments are made in stages as the work progresses, never everything up front. If you're also thinking about solar panels, fitting them while the scaffolding is up in Preston saves you paying for access twice.
Common roof problems in Preston
Westerly weather from the coast
Preston sits closer to the coast than our Pennine towns and takes weather straight off the Irish Sea. Wind-driven rain tests ridges, verges and flashings, and storm damage is common after winter gales.
Concrete tiles reaching end of life
Many of Preston's post-war and 1970s homes have concrete tile roofs now 50 years old or more. Porous tiles, moss, perished felt and failing mortar ridges are typical. Replacement gives a fresh roof with modern membranes and dry-fix ridges.
Newer roofs ready for solar
Modern estates around Preston often have roofs in good condition and well suited to solar panels. We check the roof first, then fit panels as roofers so the covering stays watertight.
Ageing extensions
Flat-roofed extensions and garages are common on Preston's semis. Older felt roofs pond and leak; we replace them with systems covered by a 25-year manufacturer product guarantee.
